July 23 - Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Today, we left Yellowstone out of the south exit.  Leaving the south exit puts you on the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway.  The Parkway is a short stretch of road that connect Yellowstone to the Grand Teton National Park.

Driving through the Tetons was beautiful.  The ruggedness of the panoramic mountain views at the traffic turnouts are humbling.  If you ever need a reminder that you or your problems really don't matter in the great scheme of things, set up your camp chair in front of the Tetons.

The expansive views are primarily enjoyed by cattle that are grazed all along their feet.  We commented that those cattle are enjoying some prime real estate!

We spent the night in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the Jackson Hole Campground.  Like everything else in Jackson Hole, it's spendy -- $78.00/night for their RV camping fee.  But, you are in the midst of the Tetons, and it's only one night.

The campground has RV sites, tent sites, and cabins.  I loved their cabin design:

We spent the evening enjoying the town.  It is a shopper's dream.  Lots of great stores practically begging for your $ -- and LOTS of it!  ;)  I bought a wide angle lens for my camera. (A tardy purchase, as it would have been awfully handy in Yellowstone and the Tetons).  Josh bought a new pair of Ariat cowboy boots.

We enjoyed a stagecoach ride and a stroll around the Western Town.

Waiting for the bus to take into town.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Jackson Hole, Wyoming:  Quite possibly the only place where you could actually find yourself a million dollar cowboy.  :)

These elk sheds are collected annually by boy scouts as a fundraiser.  They scour the National Elk Reserve in Jackson Hole for the sheds each year, and then auction them off.  The city buys enough to make 4 giant arches on each corner of their town square.  [By the way: take special note the fine man on the left, who -- despite my pleading looks, waiting, and obvious hints -- refused to get himself out of our picture!  Ugh!]

Our Stagecoach.  The driver took one look at Easton and said, "I bet he's a handful."  I knew I wasn't the only one who thinks he has TROUBLE written all over him.  He surely gets that from his dad.  ;)

Tomorrow, we hit the road and make tracks to California!
