August 9 - California: San Diego

We slept in again this morning after our late night last night.  I have found that if we have a late night, taking it easy the next morning saves Easton from total meltdown!

By late morning we were off to the San Diego Science Center.  It is one of the many things in San Diego's Balboa Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world.  Aside from the San Diego Zoo, the park is home to numerous walking trails, botanical gardens, 15 museums, play areas, sports fields, and theaters.

We briefly visited the Science Center and watched an IMAX movie, Born to be Wild, on their new dome IMAX screen.  The dome gives you a near-360 degree projection -- VERY COOL!  We've decided to return again tomorrow morning to re-visit the Science Center and a few other museums when we have more time.

Then, we were off to the San Diego Safari Park for a couple of hours.  The park is the breeding and research facility for the Zoo.  It has huge African Savannahs where multiple species graze together.  A great way to spend the evening!

After a couple of trips on their beautiful carousel, it was closing time for the park.  We left the park and headed to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream.  Caden had 2 hole-in-one's playing mini golf at Boomer's the other day.  So, we owed him an ice cream --- and he hasn't let us forget it either! ;)

Great day...
